Aren't we all the main characters in our own life's drama? How could it be otherwise? And as such, don't we always look for new challenges or new issues to concern ourselves with? Otherwise what would we do if we didn't have anything we felt needed doing? I suppose one could just peacefully abide in a cave or hermitage somewhere staring at a nice blank wall (that's how I spend my Sunday afternoons actually) - but then the thought might arise that outside the cave there is still a lot of suffering and can one really be happy without going out there and trying to relieve it? So, I see Buffy as one of those types of people who will never settle for being complacently happy by ducking away to do her own thing and leaving the big picture to take care of itself - and I think underneath the angst and pressure there is a sense of deep meaning from being so engaged that makes it all worth it - otherwise she would just burn out (as I believe happened towards the end of season 5 - but even that challenge was met with a little help from her friends).

Namu Myoho Renge Kyo,
Ryuei
