Buffy changed TV.

Buffy changed how we watched TV.

Buffy changed me.

Before Buffy, I didn't really pay attention to who created TV shows. I didn't go online for updates on my favorite television shows, and I certainly didn't interact with other fans to discuss TV.

Buffy was the first show that had me truly obsessed, obsessed over the performances, the writing, the themes; the first show that provoked deep philosophical responses from a man who (honestly) didn't choose to delve into philosophy that much.

My little Buffy comedy playlets gave me more satisfaction than virtually all of my "real" writing. (My Angel episodes and Anya-fic were the first fanfic I'd written since childhood.)

Buffy introduced me to all of you. A brilliant, diverse set of individuals who came at our common obsession at wildly divergent angles, and opened my eyes to different ways of seeing the world.

Even if we don't communicate that often, we will always be Buffy's children gathering under Masq's umbrella. You will always be with me because the lessons I've learned from you will never leave me.

And I know.. .

I KNOW....

I know that if Buffy comes back, the way that Star Trek came back (and the X-Files and Samurai Jack came back!), we will gather again as if no time at
all had passed.

Happy anniversary, friends.
