The lion-griffin appears in the temple of the was god Ninurta, whose animal it appears to be. The storm god Ishkur (or Adad) rides a similar beast called an Umu Na-Iru (Roaring Weather Beast).
Another creature that caught my eye was the agathodemon. Originally viewed as a winged serpent, this creature from classical Greek and Gnostic traditions later became conflated with Aion, the Lion-headed god of time and the zodiac.
