Darla was bought back as human including the same soul that she had when she was human - that's my understanding. A soul does make you automatically a good person though and Darla's case she'd had a rough life as a mortal which meant like Faith she'd come to the conclusion other people weren't worth bothering with or caring about and the only person she could rely on was herself which explains her intial callousness even with a soul. Having a soul does not make you automatically good - many people in the Buffy/Angel verse including both Ethan Rayne and Warren managed to be a nasty pieces of work with one, Warren died by being killed in cold blood by Willow who also was horrible to her friends and almost ended the world again with a soul, Wes has imprisoned, tortured and murdered in cold blood, and was in turn almost strangled by souled Angel who also left people to a fear demon and locked a different set in with vampires, nor is souled Spike a poster boy for sainthood either as he taunted and bit a man who many would argue he should have apologised to.
