Given the events of the previous season, she was obviously scared facing down Angel on his own ground, but she didn't let it stop her from doing what she had to do.

She wasn't weepy and overly emotional about her approach, but nobody could doubt she was looking out for Buffy, first and only.

She could have called Angel a borderline pedophile for jonesing after an underaged girl, but she knew how deeply Buffy and Angel loved each other, and respected that love.

She treated Angel as a decent person with real feelings, and expected him to treat her the same way. And he did.

She stated her case clearly and with a great deal of wisdom, wisdom Angel couldn't deny.

She probably took a shot of scotch the minute she got home.

Never loved Joyce more than this episode. (Well, maybe when she wore the silk nightgown in Restless....)
