On further checking I can't find confirmation of Lowell's Syndrome on the net but Lowell and his belief in the canals is real enough.

Lowell wasn't the first to see the canali, that was an Italian called Giovanni Schiaparelli in 1877.

It seems that there was a lot more liquid on Mars at one point and IIRC the experts say that it was water that's evaporated and bled off into space since Mars has insufficient gravity to hold an atmosphere. Whether the surface features (probably) caused by liquid are large enough for Lowell to have seen them through his equipment I can't say. I haven't read any comment one way or another but I seem to recall hearing on the TV that they aren't big enough to be seen from earth.

As for the site; IMO you're on a hiding to nothing if you're seeking scientific evidence for the existence of God. By all means believe; but don't try to claim scientific proof, you'll just annoy a lot of scientists (including this one).
