Subject: Saw The Shield...
In reply to: Fenugreek 's message, "Well, If we're talking Buffyverse appearances..." on 23:29:51 02/28/06 Tue

Hey all.

I haven't posted in a while but I have been watching The Shield quite religiously the last couple of seasons (own all the dvds so far) and I too caught Gina Torres (Zoe/Jasmine for the...well, people who don't know)and I agree with Fenugreek on her performance.

I actually wasn't sure it was her in the beginning. The Shield has a way of making its characters more "real" looking. She was very disheveled in her first scene.

However, beyond her appearance, I did want to get a feel for what other followers of the show think about the season so far. It has taken a very different turn in my opinion. There isn't any "external" threat. In fact, the main opposition (Whitaker's character) is from INTERNAL affairs.

Uhm. I guess maybe I don't know how to feel about the season so far. In season's past, I was on edge every episode because I thought that there was no way that they could get out of these situations. Now, however, it is different.

Before, there was always the off-chance that they could get away with it. Like in season two when the strike team goes to Mexico and makes it over the border with a guy in the trunk. It was at least believable that it could happen in my opinion. Now, however, I don't see any way that the team can really get out.

What I'm trying to say is, is this the last season? I don't see this ending any way but at least Vic landing in jail - which would be justice but possibly unfulfilling to some fans or Vic dying. Either way, the show ends there.

I have heard some talk from TV guide about future possibilites, but has anyone heard anything concrete about the show's future? I read that there will be a "mid-season finale" (?) And that the show would return in late 2006 or early 2007(?) What does this mean? This is not the status quo for this show. Any word would be appreciated. Thanks.

Seven
