Subject: How Dead are Vampires? and Evil when?

I noticed not too far below where the Deadness of Vampires (Spike, Dru, Darla) was discussed. It made me think about Vampires with a Soul also.

In Buffy B7.07 "Conversation with Dead People", Buffy stakes her friend & confidant (sorry, spell) Psych 101 dude Holden Webster. (Same name he claimed for himself, even "Webs"). He had just risen and thus far commited no evil (other than wacking Buffy with a small, detached statue of the Virgin Mary).

Holder was also of the Order of Aurelius, right? (Spike sired him?). They are special vampires, in that are leaders and preserve much of the orginal human personality. Buffy didn't have to stake him.

What if Holden was able to get his soul back, before ever commiting any evil act? Wouldn't that be a new immortal version of human being?
