As the first episode that I saw in its entirety was The Gift, Afterlife came early in my Buffy viewing and it was the episode that convinced me that BtVS was a special show. Specifically, the conversation between Buffy and Spike where she tells Spike that she was in some sort of heaven and was not happy about being brought back. A show that kills off its hero and then brings her back is unusual. One that brings her back depressed is phenomenal.
