He walks around Buffy, takes Owen's book and heads to the checkout station.

Giles: Oh, Emily Dickinson.

could be put forward as evidence that the whole book thing was planned, but it doesn't feel planned to me. I've posted on how I develop plots in FRP to get the players thinking but I'm not sure this is a central enough issue for this kind of mind game with the audience.

I could easily be wrong about this.
