Subject: Mal vs. Angel

I believe Mal and Angel share many similarities.

Whilst Angel's character development is explored rather fully throughout 8 years...due to Firefly being cut short, we have no idea whether or not Mal would have evolved to become something rather similar to that of Season 5 Angel.

They both have mysterious pasts looming...they've got the brooding thing downpat, plus the (at times) rather shady morals. Also, there is the forbidden love interest (Cordy/Buffy v. Inara). They take charge in similar ways, and use that same ironic humour that Whedon is famous for.

They would sacrifice anything for their respective crews and are constantly putting their lives on the lines for them.

Any other thoughts?
