I think her status as adopted child (and wondering who her real mom and dad could be) is one of Trina's big weak/soft spots, so it makes sense that she's a bit less hard-edged in this ep.

I'm wondering why Aaron and Echolls Wife #1 adopted the prom baby, and with Principal Moorehead and the cafeteria lady working in the same school, how all this could have possibly been kept a secret for 25 years...
