Is Joss only the Canon blesser? (I refer to the owners of "all things buffy', two exec-producers from the original Buffy movie. Is Canon a "legal" thing?

Nancy Holder's book "Queen of the Slayers", has a detailed list of works (i'd scan a list if any would like).

Also noticed details in Free Encylopedia Wikipedia:

Fray & Angel "The Long Journey" are DarkHorse comics by Joss. Are there others by Joss?
