Whatever damage the writers inflicted on Xander was almost inconsequential compared to what they did to Cordelia in Angel S4. I know, I know it wasn't really Cordelia but that almost seems like a writer wank. She looked like Cordy, she smelled like Cordy, she even sometimes acted like Cordy but we are supposed to believe that it was Jasmine all the time? I guess so but I would have rather they just killed her outright at the end of S3.
