Ahh. But that's just it. You try to do "bigger", and you end up like Mr. Lucas and his boring, soulless Star Wars prequels. What has fascinated me a great deal since I've started reading Serenity reviews is how many film critics are using Joss's big-screen debut to trash George-- it's more than just a few. Yes, Lucas advanced the technical state of the digital arts over the last decade, but then why does the use of more traditional SFX techniques in Serenity seem so much more emotionally involving?

My guess is that there will be a Serenity "sequel" several years from now, but that it will be a different story than the one that has just been pretty much concluded. I can think of several avenues in this particular 'verse that could be interestingly explored, and that might be even more involving if they depict the characters after several years have actually passed.

I feel the same way about BtVS-- if a film gets made someday (and I think it will), I want to see Buffy in her mid-30's, and see how things have changed in the last decade for all the Scoobies.
