I'm having trouble fitting Season Six, where Willow became the antagonist, into the religion metaphor. This may be because magic as an image was all over the map - is it sex, is it drugs, is it rock n roll? The closest it fits into the larger continuum is as technology (it's no accident, I think, that Willow moved from computer hacker to magic practitioner), which doesn't quite fit as an element of modern religion.

She might be presented as the other side of the coin - the Religion of Self taken to the Nth degree - but that seems to be stretching even beyond my considerable willingness to stretch things to fit a particular imagery.
