The stallion sighed and knew he should have known better. His beloved wouldn�t let it drop, he was sure of.
�Nothing, beloved. My soul is not my own, is all.�
He stared out to the stream and nodded toward Katie.
�Our souls are not our own anymore.� He sighed again.
�Katie fears death, for she will be taken and locked away, her soul that is. I do not fear it so much. The Master will have a hard time holding me. Worry not about me, beloved. Worry about your daughter.�
He said it all plainly as if speaking of the weather or such.
But orbs darkened with bitterness inside.
�A year and a half? Good, she is still young and I haven�t missed much of her growth.�
He offered a feeble smile and gazed upon the herd.
�I promise to be here to watch her grow.�
The stallion said mostly to himself.
