Sheldon, you magnificent bastard, you've done it again! You should be writing for the Post with recaps like this!

Interesting to observe the time period when the NWA had a strong foothold over North America, including Canada. I have one tape circa 1981-2 with Ric Flair and Roddy Piper cutting a variety of promos for Maple Leaf Gardens shows. I wonder if the Maritimes could have gotten back into the NWA loop had Jack Tunney not fallen out with the Crocketts?

The booking still seems very similar to the 80s, where a heel champion ran the circuit ragged until near the end when the big face- Leo Burke almost always- caught up with him.
