WILLPOWER PART 2x03: Murphy's First Law

1x18: Empowerment:
216 AD
People are running through the streets in terror.
WOMAN
Radament must be stopped
We see a radament, a creature with two arms and legs, ten feet tall, a tail and a body covered with Spikes.
His eyes are blood-red, he has four hirns on his forehead and he had no nose.
WOMAN
Acaste ceras mavri. Acum!
Radament turns to energy which is absorbed by an amulet.
We see the amulet put in a chest and thrown in the ocean.
Present Day
We see a group of fisherman haul up the chest and open it.
GUY
So Pete, you think there's anything of value in that chest?
We see Pete taking the amulet out of the chest and his expression suddenly changes into a cold stare.
VOICE *whisper*
Don't let him go. Kill him!
We see Pete killing his fellow fishermen in cold blood.
Pete sees Willow coming out of the Magic Box
VOICE *whisper*
Stop! She radiates with power. Follow her!
VOICE *whisper*
Willow?...... Could she be the one?
We see Pete performing a ritual.
VOICE
Lesendre tufa nosi
PETE
Asemath wariri to ma!
We see a bright flash that fills the room and we see the amulet melt into Pete's chest. Pete's eyes are blood-red.
Seemingly without trouble, he slams his fist through a wall.
PETE/RADAMENT
The world will tremble, for Radament has returned.
At the Summers' home, Radament is fighting a demon. When the demon tries to hit back, he is thrown back by the
anti-violence spell.
RADAMENT *smiles*
An anti-violence spell. Sorry mate, it only works on demons
We see Pete/Radament kill the demon in the Summers' residence.
1x21: Bloodrun
We see a book lying open on a table. The wind turns the pages and we read:
"...and on the seventh moon after the rebirth, he will take control over the new vessel. With magical power on his
side, he will bring hell to earth and chaos everywhere."
=====END OF FLASHBACKS=====
We are at the Magic Box. Kennedy and Giles are busy training in the back. We can't see what they're doing just yet.
GILES
You must concentrate
Kennedy is standing in the center of the room with a blindfold. Giles is walking through the room with a ball in
his hand. After walking around awhile, he throws the ball at Kennedy. Remarkably enough, she catches it.
GILES
Well done
KENNEDY
Great! Can we stop with this nonsense then?
GILES
This is an excellent exercise for your senses. When you can't see you have to rely on your other senses.
KENNEDY
But I caught it. Doesn't that mean I passed or something?
GILES
I threw fifty-two times and you caught it once. I can't call that a reason for celebration. You
need to keep practicing.
KENNEDY
What I need..... is a break
Kennedy takes off the blindfold, walks to the front of the Magic Box and sits down at the table. Giles sighs and comes
after her and sits down at the table too. We can now see that it is dark outside.
KENNEDY
So... what's bothering you?
GILES *innocent*
Hm?
KENNEDY
Come on Giles. I'm not blind, deaf *and* stupid..... (beat) whatever those tests may indicate.
Something's troubling you. What happened at that Council meeting?
GILES
I'm not sure I should bring that up now.
KENNEDY
Come on Giles, you *have* to
GILES
I have to? Why?
KENNEDY
Because now I'm curious
GILES *sarcastic* *smiling*
Good lord. Better tell everything I know then. (beat) The council members have asked me to
lead the council from London.
KENNEDY
I thought you were gonna lead it from here?
GILES
I did.... I am.... but they asked me to move back to London
KENNEDY *smiles*
Well... you can't do that. You're my watcher and we guard the hellmouth.
GILES
Willow could be your watcher
KENNEDY
She's been studying with you for a couple of months. Hardly enough to get the watchers diploma.
GILES
There is no...... never mind.... (beat) 95% of becoming a watcher is reading and more reading.
With modern communication, I can still help you all.
Kennedy looks at Giles, who is not looking back at her.
KENNEDY
So what are you going to do?
GILES
I'm not sure. I want to discuss this with Willow first.
Kennedy decides to drop the subject... for now.
KENNEDY
Speaking of Willow, you know when she'll be back?
GILES
Tomorrow probably, but it could be later.
KENNEDY
Well, what did she say on the phone?
GILES
She said, "tomorrow probably, but it could be later"
KENNEDY
Did she say anything about this prophecy that she was in?
GILES
No, but I think we're going to find out soon enough

Kennedy looks at Giles, who doesn't look back, and smiles.

Dawn smiles. Dawn and Kennedy look at each other and silently laugh.
Then, the front door opens and Willow steps in, obviously a little tired. Willow sits down with them. Giles turns
off the TV and waits for Willow to start talking.
WILLOW
You probably want to know about that prophecy
DAWN
Well... yeah!
WILLOW
I'm afraid there isn't much to say. It is written in an ancient language.
GILES
Oh really, what language?
WILLOW
Wesley said it was Mesbeti
KENNEDY
So? Just go to someone who speaks Mesbeti and get it translated.
WILLOW
It's not like it's Japanese or Hungarian. No one speaks Mesbeti. Nobody has spoken it in thousands of years.
WILLOW
Anyway, they translated a part of it by using referring literature. But it's not much more than
just a couple of loose words now.
DAWN
Loose words are better than no words..... at least, in this case
WILLOW
Willow.... magic.... moon.... destruction.... out of control.... victory
ANDREW
You're gonna go crazy with the magic *again*?
Dawn pushes her elbow in his side.
ANDREW
Ow. I just wanted to know. If dark Willow comes back we better prepare
Dawn hits Andrew on the back of his head.
ANDREW *to Dawn*
Ooow! What was that for?
Dawn doesn't answer his question but glares at him to shut up about this.
GILES
And you're sure it's about you?
WILLOW
My name is in there Giles.
KENNEDY
So... shouldn't you be helping with the translation?
WILLOW
Wesley is much better at that. I have better things to do here.
GILES
I understand that
WILLOW
You know guys, I'm really tired. I'm going to bed.
Willow smiles at everyone and then walks upstairs.
GILES
Poor Willow
KENNEDY
Giles?
GILES
Kennedy... this prophecy is obviously not very positive.
KENNEDY
Maybe we should wait with our accusations until the text is fully translated.
GILES
I think I'll have a talk with Wesley
KENNEDY
You do that. But until you are sure that it means what you think it means, don't tell me what
I think you were gonna tell me.
DAWN
Okay Kennedy, breathe
Kennedy looks at everyone and then goes upstairs to Willow.
GILES
Yes, I'll have a talk with Wesley.
Giles leaves the room, leaving only Dawn and Andrew.
ANDREW
Do *you* think she'll go evil again?
DAWN
I don't know..... I really don't know. I think we shouldn't worry about it until we know more.

We are at one of the local cemetaries. It is now only minutes after sunset. We see a man walking with long white
hair at shoulder length, and black clothing. He looks about thirty and he has a small mark on the back of his hand.
It's a circle with two hooks sticking out of it. In the middle of the circle is a hand that bursts up from the
ground. After awhile, he stops at the center of the cemetary. He sees one vampire coming straight at him. He doesn't
even give the vampire a second look. The man does nothing but the vampire just turns to ashes.... out of nowhere.
MAN *to himself*
Laughable
He looks around him and then up.
MAN

MAN

All around the man, arms pop out of their graves. Some of them are fresh and seem a little bit human, others are
really just skeletons. After a few minutes, the place is crowded with undead. They all stand around zombie-like.
MAN
Daku Shihirtu!
The raised corpses seem to come to life. Hastily, they move in all directions. The man walks away.

Willow is lying in bed; exhausted. She seems to be sleeping. Suddenly, her eyes open wide and she sits up straight.
WILLOW *calm*
Uh oh
She walks downstairs where she finds Dawn and Andrew kissing on the couch. They don't hear Willow come down, they're
probably too preoccupied. Willow waits for a few seconds for them to notice her but they don't.
WILLOW
Uh, guys?
Dawn and Andrew quickly pull apart in surprise.
WILLOW *sarcastic*
Thank you...
WILLOW
....there's trouble. Where is everyone?
DAWN
Well... Kennedy is training with Giles and.....
DAWN *to Andrew*
...you know where Xander is?
ANDREW
Yes. He's not available.
WILLOW
Andrew!
ANDREW
He made me promise not to tell
WILLOW
If you don't tell me I'll just use a locator spell
DAWN
Never mind. He's with *her*, isn't he?
WILLOW

Willow begins to realize what Dawn means.
WILLOW
What?! He's with that witch.
ANDREW

WILLOW
Okay, I'll get Xander. You two go to the Magic Box. We'll meet you there.
DAWN
Okay Willow.... what's going on?
WILLOW
I don't know, but I felt something powerful..... death
ANDREW
I don't like the sound of that
WILLOW
Go to the Magic Box and warn Giles and Kennedy.
Dawn and Andrew stand up and, together with Willow, walk out of the house.

We see another man walking through the streets of Sunnydale. He is quite short; about five feet tall.
He has a pitch-black beard but is bald on the head. He is dressed in a medieval chainmail armor.
He carries a very large broadsword that looks way too big for him. The streets are deserted as they are
mostly at night. When a man wanders over the street and notices him, he immediately runs the other way.
After awhile, he comes by a house where he enters. All around the house, undead corpses walk around,
seemingly waiting for orders. He enters the house without any trouble and closes the door behind him.
VOICE (O.S)
Berzahl!
The man turns around and sees a tall woman with dark hair standing in the doorway to the living room.
BERZAHL
Alleria. I didn't expect to see *you*. Your party outside?
VOICE (O.S)
No, it's mine
Berzahl turns around and sees the man whom we saw raised the dead at the cemetary.
BERZAHL
Rakanisu! Don't tell me you called for me.
Berzahl's voice indicates that he doesn't really like Rakanisu.
RAKANISU
No. I was called here as well.
BERZAHL
By who?
RAKANISU
I don't know. But I'm sure we'll find out.
VOICE (O.S)
Yes you will..... and sooner than you think.
BERZAHL *annoyed*
Why does everyone start talking when I've turned my back?
Berzahl, Rakanisu and Alleria turn to the front door and see Radament standing there.
RADAMENT
Welcome friends. I'm sure you wonder why I summoned for you
BERZAHL
I hope it involves killing and destroying
RADAMENT *smiles*

Willow arrives at Kate's place. Not wanting to waste time, she magically opens the door and walks in.
There, she finds Xander and Kate watching TV. They are not facing the door and they don't hear or see
Willow coming in. They are sitting next to each other on the couch. They look snuggly, but not couply
or anything. It clear though that they enjoy each other's company.
WILLOW *hesitant*
Am I interrupting here?
Kate and Xander both turn their heads towards Willow.
KATE
Yes. But since when do you care?
WILLOW *calm* *to Kate*
I was talking to Xander
WILLOW *to Xander*
We gotta go..... trouble
Xander doesn't like this to say the least but being the guy he is, he doesn't say anything about it.
XANDER *to Kate*

KATE

WILLOW
Xander, I want to have a few words with Mrs. Sunshine here

WILLOW

Willow stares at him for a minute. Xander shrugs and heads outside.
WILLOW

KATE

WILLOW

KATE

water in my face and then demanded to know what who behind the killing?

Willow walks out, a bit upset that Kate doesn't care about what she says. Ouside, Xander waits.

Can I make an educated guess about what just happened?
WILLOW

Alright, just a guess..... you told her to stay away from me. She told you to go to hell. You
threatened her and she laughed in your face.
Willow is speechless for two seconds.
WILLOW
Are we both that obvious?
XANDER
No actually, I listened at the door. Are you going to tell *me* to stay away from *her*?
WILLOW

XANDER
No...... Come on Will. I like her a lot. So she's not perfect. So she did some bad things in the
past. So what? I mean, it's not like you *tried* to be her friend or anything.

Willow looks at Xander for a few seconds and realizes she has no clue.

They stand there, doing nothing for a few seconds.

Willow's eyes grow wide. With the Kate/Xander thing going, she completely forgot.
WILLOW
Right. Someone cast a dark, powerful spell. I could feel it.
XANDER
That's always bad. But that happens regularly. What makes this so terrible?
WILLOW
The power. I'd feel a lot safer with everyone together; researching.
XANDER

WILLOW
