The Murfreesboro Half marathon is tentatively scheduled for September 22, which is Yom Kippor. Yom Kippor is the single most important holiday on the Jewish calendar. On this day Jews fast and repent and spend the entire day praying. It seems that it is disrespectful to hold a big race on this date. It would be like holding a race on Easter.
