 Virgil refused to take the bait. Not that the type of battle would make a difference in the outcome (he was SUPPOSED to lose anyway), but his plan required Solace to take both him AND the mech, so that they could get the full bounty of 250 million cred. And the easiest way to do that was to have both ships fighting out in space. true, she'd have to find some way to tow both ships back to Earth...but Virgil was sure she'd figure something out. Otherwise, Solace would either have to settle for the $10M Virgil was worth by himself (which was unacceptable, considering the risk he was taking) or ASK Thuro if he'd be so kind as to not only let one of his "mercenaries" be kidnapped without interference, but to hand over his mecha as well! Unlikely, at best. So he needed to push a few more buttons...

"Glad we've agreed on your new nickname...'Midget'." The grin grew even wider. "Besides...if you plan to collect a bounty on me, it's only fair you find out how I got it in the first place. But hey, if you don't have the chops, just say so...Don't wanna add 'Bullies Little Girls' to my already tarnished rep..."

Virgil was enjoying this. Early on in his career, when he was forcibly "recruited" into Third Eye, he'd goten revenge by cultivating a talent for pissing his superiors off. He'd even driven one of his drill instructors into an aslyum. It'd been a long time since anyone pissed him off enough to trigger this response in Virgil...or was it something else?...
