*gathering her laced reins, she asks for impulsion and points her mare at the three foot oxer looming ahead of her. They clear it in a smooth arc and continue forward towards a lower vert bar. The mare refuses*
"What was that? You've jumped higher!" *she allows rein to slide through her gloved fingers and walks in a circle. The mare, however, chuckles*
"I didn't feel challenged enough."
"Cassie," *her tone is warning. "Cassie" lets a sigh escape*
"Okay, fine. But i want the liverpool next." *the girl nods*
"Deal." *closing her legs gently, she asks for a canter. Cassie responds with her most rolling of gaits, her short stride following the hunter circle she was asked to execute. Pricking her ears at the vert bar, her pace quickens and she leaps, snapping her legs up, the girl clinging lightly to mane and giving the mare her head. She points her at the liver pool, a bit higher than the oxer they previously jumped, half-halting the mare so she will not lengthen her strides they way she is threatening to do. 3...2...1-up! they boldly attack the fence and Cassie continues on towards the next fence; a colorful double. The girl, however, disagrees*
"HALT!" *she applies pressure to the reins. Cassie shakes her head in annoyance*
"What was that? We were doing fine!" *Zoe shakes her head*
"You're getting warm." *she swings her leg around and hops off easily, bringing the reins over the mare's head and leading her out of the arena. As she leaves, she smiles*
"Good job." *she pats her neck* "You have real potential."
*the mare smiles blissfully* "I know."
