I can not believe how glenwood and all of Canarsie has changed. It is totally disgusting. I drove down flatlands ave to get bagels and there was not 1 bagel store left. I am so glad my parents got us out of there when they did.

It is with very sad regret that I want to inform al Glenwood residents of 885 East 56th Street who were original tennets or later that Kenny Hirsch passed away last week at the age of 50. The Hirsch family was a close friend of my family, the Friedmans and the Levisons. Our sympathies to his brothers, Steve and Carlie Hirsch as well as his mother Zelda and to Kenny's wife and two kids.

I lived in the Glenwood Projects my entire life until my parents moved us to Las Vegas when I graduated from South Shore H.S. in 1976. Trying to remember friends I grew up with a few come to mind. Next door to us lived sisters Beth & Cheryl Newman. Upstairs lived Andrea Blair until she moved I think to Long Island. Another good friend was Joanne Pilato who also moved to Long Island and Sylvia Ocasio who I think moved to Florida. There was Steven Baransky, Honey Shopowitz and Hal Allen. My e-mail is tvozzz@aol.com if anyone has info on these people. We were all pretty much the same age. We went to P.S.251, Roy H. Mann J.H.S. and South Shore H.S. I still live presently in Las Vegas.
