The femme looks at him, surprised at his question. She hated her voice and he had reminded her about how ugly it sounded. She frowns.

I didn't always sound this way. I used to sound normal.

She walks closer to Anao, knowing that he couldn't see. That was part of the reason she wasn't angry at him for asking her about her voice. He couldn't see the scar that everyone else could.

Feel along my neck.

She was close enough now that he could use his muzzle to feel the jagged, raised, foot long scar across her neck. It had nearly destroyed her vocal cords. She was actually lucky that she could talk.

I got the scar from a fight with my brother. I killed him and he nearly killed me. I payed a fair enough price by ending up sounding...like this.

She sighs, hating the gravely, scratchy voice that came from her lips...
