I am by far underqualified to discuss genetics on the same level as some of the PHD's that seem to always pop up to discredit the author of any scientific writing. It is a shame to see professionals get to the level of undermining others intelligence with comments such as "poor George doesn't seem to understand......". Maybe if Jimmy writes his own book, Dr. Padgett and Dr. Willis can also read it and possibly critique it. On second thought probably not.

But without Dr. Willis or "poor George" being around to counter Seltzers argument, I think it is important to note that there is a division between two groups on this issue. This is similar to many issues in the scientific community. The first group has Dr. Malcolm Willis and Dr. George Padgett who believe that the whole point of breeding is to breed the best to the best and this means usually a small percentage of the total population. Whereas the second group is advocating strong genetic diversity or using unrelated ancestors.

As an outsider I believe that since genetics is still in its infancy, it is important to keep an open mind about these things and that both sides have good arguments. Obviously Seltzer and yourself are strong supporters of strictly the second group.
