The author touches on quite a wide variety of the same issues that are often talked about on dog forums in general. In the foreword written about the author, "extraordinary objectivity" is used to describe the author. While reading this article you get a strong sense of this characteristic. The author makes it very clear that parts of what he writes is his opinion and not proven (tested). At the same time he presented the material in a way that I really felt was showing total confidence by not trying to cover up his uncertainties. It's refreshing to see this sort of open and honest humbleness. It's a shame that he passed away. I'm not sure what exactly he left behind for the Saluki, but it sure seems as though he had alot to offer.

As far as accuracy of some of his opinions on sight hounds and Saluki's in general, I would love to hear from one of the other visitors of the board that has an extraordinary amount of experience with working sight hounds and see what they think.

This goes to show that good quality information can be found in merely observing different breeds and that there is much to be learned from their experiences. As the article points out, even completely different species of animals like the horse, cheetah and the predatorial birds have something to offer.

In a not so related manner, after watching "Animal Cops" on the Animal planet, I sometimes wish that keeping a dog would require the same education and licensing requirements that they have for falconers.

Thanks David. This was a great read.
