Subject: "Breeders?"

Hi Sara. No one producing only 2 or 3 litters a years is going to be able to positively improve their chosen breed. If you look at the "good" lines in any breed you will find they they were developed by breeders producing MORE than two or three litters each year. It is the purpose of the breeding and the quality of the pups produced that determine if a person is a "Breeder" or a "puppy producer". Now, I've seen some fine dogs coming from "puppy producers", so I'm not knocking them, but they aren't "breeders" and they don't produce defineable lines (how many litters a year do you think Grasslands, or Dopper, or Baden, or.......have every year?)
I have also placed deposits and waited well over a year to get pups from breedings that I was interested in. It seems a surer way to get a good pup than running out and buying whatever is available when the time seems right to get a pup.
