Cleo is one of my basket cases. I have been able to get her socialized and basic obedience trained, and she has been in the harness with just a big long log chain hooked to it, just so she could get used to haveing something behind her that made lots of noise and a little bit of weight and she is doing good in that, but her attitude is off. She has no drive. Not only that she isn't huge or anything, I have her lean and muscular right now and she's weiging 80lbs which for a dog that will be a year at the end of the month is not much, but I am kinda partial to the smaller boerboel. She is just a mess though when it becomes being a normal dog. I had her as a house dog, and although not a chewer and doing pretty good with potty training, she is a huge klutz(to be expected) and is still a spazz despite all the socializing. She has gotten to the point that she will guard at home, but no matter how much time I spend with her away from home, she is a complete and utter skitz away from home. Petsmart is not fun for her unlike my other kids, and she is always worried about everything else going on around her. She did great in obedience other than she is always out to get a laugh. From jumping 5 feet in the air while heeling, to pouncing when going into a down position, she is always the one you have to be on your toes with. Ikea is still and I believe will always be a complete and utter mess. I have finally got her to stop chewing on herself and got her healed and directed her chewing to bones which is costing me about $60 a week just on her bones, but it is worth it just to see her be calm and not always nervous, but I have her at my mother in law's house as a spoiled house pet, so she will be spayed and spoiled. CLeo I will most likely find another home and I am sure it makes a lot of people happy, but I will be leaving the boerboels to the money hungry registries to fight with. I am going to concentrate on my American Bulldogs and maybe if I can find the right boerboels I will get back into boerboels, but I have made myself Bankrupt on these, so it's time to count my losses. Oh and on the male that worked, I am sure that I would have been crucified if I had bred a litter of boerboels that weren't papered, and since I never received his and I had gone as far as I could with his training as I could at the time, my very good friend took him to further his training. Now he is going farther than I had the ability to take him. There is just too much fighting and not enough effort towards trying to improve the beorboel for me. Mainly when I recover finacially, have my second child due in Feb and finish working my bulldogs this spring in catch work, I may plan a trip to South Africa and find the boerboel that I would like to breed. That way I can see for myself and talk to the people who know who, what where and when. Hopefully it will be next summer, but I don't have anything in concrete. It maybe five years from now, but that's just the only way that I see that I will get some quality dogs. Oh and yes, Teaghan does look a lot like Cleo. If I figure out how to post pictures on here, I will post some pics of the crew.
Lynn
