We have an exceptional quality female who is now 20 months old. At the age of 13 months our vet diagnosed her with pyometra. He put her on a course of antibiotics, which cleared the problem, but a month later it reappeared after she was mated. She become very ill during her so called pregnancy. The vet diagnosed this again as pyometra and antibiotics once again solved the problem but she had no pups. A smear was taken at the time and the laboratory diagnosed the problem as ecola. Medicine was prescribed for this and once again she returned to good health. Her vaginal discharged cleared up. It is now 4 weeks later and she is once again starting to show signs of a discharge. We have never had this problem before on any female including her littermates. As she is the kind of boerboel that many would like to own, I would appreciate any advice that anyone may have. In our opinion this dog represents the Historically Correct Boerboel 100%.
