Subject: Learn Saxophone at Tsang Fook
Any one here has experience in learning saxophone at Tsang Fook Music Centre? Was told there is a famous tutor called Tony. Any comments? Thanks.

Tony is a philippinno and he can speak Cantonese well. He is a night club saxophonist during 70-80's. And he still play restaurant dance band now. His personnel skill is very good and also teach well. I've been followed him few years ago. Basic skill is no problem that he teach. Also, he can play jazz and oldies songs very well.
You can try him.

Thanks so much for sharing your view. Does his play alto? Is his teaching very structural? I mean whether he teaches the very basics of saxophone and then proceed to more advanced songs? Do you think he is good at teaching someone who wants to take the Royal exams? Do you still take his tutorials?

Yes, he play both soprano, alto and tenor. All of his saxophone are vintage Selmer mark 6. I know a former APA student follow him few years ago. I felt Tony is good on both play and teach. If you want, leave me an email and I give Tony's phone number to you.

thanks for your interest of Mr. Tony's private lesson. First of all, I must clarify that no any profit between Tony and me. I recommend Tony here because I think he's a good teacher than many of "Grade 8 teachers". If you are those grade 8 teachers, sorry!

Other than Tony, there are also many good saxophone tutors in HK. Personally, I learned alto saxophone from James Cheung. He has already gotten the ATCL (performance level) and his saxophone techniques are very good. Besides, he is an alto/tenor saxophonist in one of the leading jazz band in HK. He can play jazz and oldies songs very well.

I've also heard of James before. As far as I know, he got a champion in Tom Lee winds instrument contest few years before.....
