A lot of ppl prefer Mark VI, which is a vintage saxophone, you can only get a GOOD one with lots of luck.
Personally, I prefer the Seris II, even thought its intonation is rather disapointing, it has a very sweet tone to me compare to the Seris III. I have tried the Reference and hummingbird both editions, the sound is very warm , intonation is well too, but I like the sweetness from the seris II.

Agreed with AuTakTak's comment, the sound of Ref54 is warmer in general. Personally, I prefer Ref54.

If you're beginner and you can't determine whether the condition of a vintage instrument is good or not, just forget about mark VI, mark VII, cigar cutter, SBA, BA.... so and so forth. Go to Tom Lee and ask the staff to let you try all these 3 models.
