seems kind of quiet.

So I'll report on the event that night, dear TV, just to reply to your generous invitation.

It was Friday evening. This is a commercial district. Weekend feeling is in the air. A lot of people getting off after work. The bar began to fill up. A very small sign listed the events for every Friday of October and November. Non of the performer I know of.

Sax/flute man first came and did the sound check. Keyboard man did the same. Came 6 o'clock, nothing happen. Twenty past six and a fat bass man raced to the platform with an acoustic double bass, probably from his day time job. No fanfare, no announcement and the trio began to play........ some standards and some new tunes on the flute, and then the tenor. and finally the alto. I have to say that the wind man's playing was anemic. The sound being too soft added to it. The keyboard was OK, playing some decent standards and some improvs. The bass man was revved up, doing a lot of energetic solos. There were a lot of gweilows in the audiences but it was otherwise unimpressed by the band. The band began to wilt.........

I listened for an hour, finished my three course meal, my two beers. It is getting cold that evening and my mate wanted to leave. I said I'll come back next Friday and do my own gig. We laughed and left. The performance wasn't exactly what I've expected. Nothing to lose if you wasn't there.

Hi Mark VI,

Thanks for your report. Music is a very subjective subject. I haven't heard this trio b4 but individually, they sound good to me.

Anyway, if you have gig next Friday, please let us know.
