The females are just as important as the males but do not get the recognition. The walker people learned this a few years back and it has helped them to grow at an unbelievable rate and improve quality. The black and tan fellas took note and now they seem to be climbing the ranks by concentrating on "quality" females. My female power is in question at this time. One of the best passed Oct 4. My Pepper female was a coon dog and a top rate reproducer. I have 2 females from her in my kennel now. The youngest Bray's Fern has her first litter. They are 4 weeks old. Time will tell.
