Subject: Survey results

The package of surveys from Jed were in my mailbox when I got home on the 18th (Saturday). It was real late when I got back and I had had a looooong day and so, I didn't get started on them until late Sunday afternoon after church. At 2:15 a.m. this morning I finished counting the votes. I have them tabulated! Soem of the questions yielded very clear results.
There are a lot of different comments/suggestions that will take a good bit more time to sort through and correlate, but the primary work is done. I appreciate all of you who took the time to fill them out and the suggestions. Thanks!
I will be posting the results of each item separately one-at-a-time to make it easier to follow and discuss... if there is anything to discuss, and I believe there will be on a couple of items.
Single Registration
The biggest surprise I got was on the issue of "Single Registration". 55% voted to have "Single Registration". I am not sure what that means, because I did not do a good job of asking the qustion. In retrospect, I wish I had defined what "Single Registration" is, because I suspect that people were actually voting with different ideas about what we intended to ask about.
To me it means registering a dog that is not off ALCBA dogs, but from a comment or two I think some think of it as registering dogs registered late (like at 3 years old or whatever that is off ALCBA dogs) or those registered by other registration offices, with the exception of those presently registered by UKC. Any dog not registered at all is an entirely different situation.
For now we will make no change in what was being done when Steve had the office, until we can determine what the majority opinion is.
For the most part, people were happy that we were attempting to find out what the membership as a whole wants on a few issues.
Steve had been registering UKC Leopards, as long as they traced back to a full generation of ALCBA dogs. (UKC has supposedly only registered ALCBA dogs and I have found no exceptions to that as yet.) The policy was to single register (if you want to call it that) UKC dogs, but they can only be appendix registered and would have to go through the permanent registration procedure later to register pups from them with ALCBA. I belive I have registered 4 UKC dogs so far and two of those have gone through the permanent registration procedure.
First we need to define what "Single Registration" means.
It is NOT a simple qusetion and I should have asked the question after a definition and some explanation.
I welcome your comments on this issue. We have reached no decision about single registration as yet and will continue with the policy we inherited until we understand a whole lot more.
Thanks,
Randy
