He pinned his ears slightly, snapping his tail at strong hocks. "I'm not a stallion who goes back on his word. I set the captive rule, and there it will stay. Though I expect loyalty by anyone merely living here," he added with a shrug. He didn't want to kick the quickly (very quickly) aging stallion out of the territory, not because of concern for the older stallion but because he seemed like a worthy asset to any herd. "Besides, position isn't everything," he said truthfully, for before a few months ago he hadn't lived anywhere, and had no position to call his own. Now fortune was thrust upon him and he accepted it gratifyingly.
