Subject: Hey guys, remember Veggie?

I have missed you all. Sorry I haven't been around. My life for the last three years has been mostly sporadic brief employment as a contractor, which kind of sucked up my life and energy. Then this last few months, my life has changed completely. Mr. Veggie had a stroke and was diagnosed with a brain tumor after the MRI. The good news is that he's responding well to treatment, but is disabled, so I am now a full-time caretaker. It's been an eye-opening experience and I'm relearning how precious and important personal connections are -- whcih made me think of all of you.

I still puff with pride when I remember how funny, intelligent and stimulating our crazy discussions were and how much fun Angel fandom was. Alas, I have yet to find a muse to fill the gap now that Angel is gone. I followed the comics during "After the Fall", but lost interest with the new characters that got introduced into the comics.

I follow "Once Upon A Time" and "Castle", but mostly my TV watching has dwindled. I followed "True Blood" til the end of Season 3, but haven't kept up. I admit to being stupidly hooked on "WipeOut" and "Ancient Aliens", but nothing stimulates my brain and creative spark like Angel did. Please shoot me if I fall prey to watching Honey Boo Boo. (I jest - I'm tempted to check it out.)

How is everybody? What's going on with your lives lately?

Will try to visit the board more often. Cheers to you all.

- veggie

Of course we remember. I'm so sorry for Mr. Veggie.

Have you looked at "Grimm"? It's by David Greenwalt, who created "Angel".

I watched a couple of Grimms, but they just didn't grow on me. I think it's cool, though, that fairy tales are "hot" right now as story material. The architypes translate to contemporary metaphors very nicely, much the way vampires can do when written well.

Speaking of, how is your writing going? Any new projects?

Yes, it's good to see genre TV successful right now.

Grimm took a bit to warm up and it's really gotten good, imo.

Currently doing naNoWriMo, a challenge for 50,000 words in 30 days. I've got 7 books for sale right now.

[> Glad you dropped by -- Lewis H., 10:55:11 11/12/12 Mon (adsl-98-85-39-96.mco.bellsouth.net/98.85.39.96)

So with a nickname like Veggie you should give Plants vs Zombies a try. It's a very addictive but cute little game available for under 10 bucks.

I'm sorry that your personal circumstances are not better. Enjoy life as best you can. Try to have fun when you can especially find things to laugh about. Like one of my favorite jokes:

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon. Four worms were placed into four separate jars. The first worm was put into a container of alcohol. The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke. The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup. The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil. At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol: dead.
The second worm in cigarette smoke: dead.
Third worm in chocolate syrup: dead.
Fourth worm in good clean soil: alive.
So the Minister asked the congregation, “What did you learn from this demonstration?”
Betty Lou was sitting in the back and quickly raised her hand and said, “As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!” That pretty much ended the service.

What am I doing? Well, I got laid off a year ago and decided I had enough savings and personal investment income to be able to retire. It is going well. I am happier than I have ever been. I read, play games, browse the web and watch anime. Nerd paradise.

I hope you can come back by from time to time. Check out the MNAs, discuss issues of the day and shows. I recommend
everything USA produces. Burn Notice just started its winter season. Covert Affairs is winding down to its winter finale. Royal Pains has a special wedding coming up.
As far as genre shows, I like Vampire Diaries, Lost Girl, and Warehouse 13. Only Vampire Diaries is on right now, though. The other two will be back in January or February I believe.

squeeeee!!! veggie, my dear friend. I'm so saddened by Mr. veggie's health issues. You know he now holds the number one spot on my prayer list. But, I'm so glad to know you are around again. I've missed you something fierce.

I second Lewis H about USA. Their programming is fabulous. No replacement for Angel as yet, but several hours of entertainment.

The only thing that is different about my life is where I live. We were victims of a massive forest fire in the Lost Pines of Texas. Our home and land burned not once, but twice. We rescued our dog, lost our kitty, but lost no family members. If you want to know more, let me know and I'll shoot you my email.

Please have a quiet Thanksgiving. We aren't having a celebration at our new home this year. Christmas will be the biggie with all the children except our Marine grandson in attendance. Oh, and I now have a pacemaker. Her name is Emma. I'm not fond of the term pacemaker, but am euphoric about how much better I feel since her installation. Thank you for checking in with us. I'm happier this minute than I have been in years. Hugs and kisses.

Salty, what an amazing tower of strength you are! Losing your home and pet - that must have been heartbreaking. Definately drop me an email, I would love to stay in closer touch. You named your pacemaker? That makes me chuckle, that is so "you". You have such a great sense of humor, and I'm glad you're feeling better.

Lewis, congrats on retiring : )

Kim, rock on with your writing success! That is awesome. Do you have a website for your books? I'll check it out.

Caroline, thanks for the good wishes. Mr. Veggie and I have good days and bad days, but it's getting better every day as we learn how to adjust. We're very optimistic about his recovery.

Hello, my darling. I'm so sorry to hear about Mr Veggie's illness - sometimes life just sucks beyond bearing but somehow we do bear it. Best wishes and blessings on you.

PS Don't worry - if we hear that you have succumbed to Honey Boo Boo we will come after you.
