Not sure what an NQT year is but it doesn't sound like fun.
You're probably overqualified to teach at the average HS in America. In Florida our Governor spent the last year cutting the education budget to the bone and now because he gave some of it back this year he pretends he's some sort of friend to teachers. I'm pretty sure he fits the definition of "ass-clown".

That's so kind of you, thank you so much. After we do our PGCE (which is a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education), we have to do a further year of NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher), during which we have to meet all sorts of standards. I haven't met some of them (some of this was through illness) but nevertheless, they have not been met and so I am being shown the door and attempting not to have it hit me on the ass on the way out.
