Seems like every church is doing something special for this day, how about yours?
Our church is doing a cantata during the morning service, and I am in the choir. We need to show up in shorts and T-Shirts, since we will change into period costumes for the production. I, as Pontius Pilate, will have a regal looking purple silky robe with a white sash and gold trim, but bare-legged and barefoot!
I am innocent of this man's blood, it is your responsibility!
The cantata is David Clydesdale's "How Great Thou Art". It is an awesome production, and I think our modest little church (150 members) is doing well to have a capable choir (30 singers) able to do this production.
Interestingly, one in the barbershop chorus was inviting others to come for HIS church cantata, the very same thing! He says seven country churches in Cass County got together for this one, which will be the next four evenings at 1st Baptist Church of Harrisonville (Sat and Sun eve) or New Covenant Church, Garden City MO (Thurs & Fri).
All to celebrate the glory of the risen Lord!
From the desk of D. James Kennedy, Ph.D.
What does Easter mean to you personally?
Did Jesus really rise from the dead?
That's the real question confronting each of us this Easter. For if Christ was not raised, then even the Bible says our faith is in vain. But if He was raised from the dead, then Easter represents the most momentous day in the history of the world when the Lord of Glory stepped forth out of the tomb and death was conquered by life.
The fact is, none of the skeptics has ever been able to put the slightest dent in the overwhelming evidence for the
Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As you study the Christ of the Bible, I believe you will become more convinced than ever that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and He is alive today. What's more, one day you will see Him, for the Scriptures says that every eye shall see Him, and every knee shall bow before Him.
And on that day, if you have received the gift of everlasting life, you will greet Him as your Redeemer, Savior and Lord.
Do you know Him? Have you received the gift of everlasting life? That is the hope of Easter. That is what Christ offers to every person today -- the gift of everlasting life -- not earned, merited, deserved. But simply by grace -- the unmerited, unearned, free, favor of God, paid for in full at Calvary's Cross by the divine Savior of the world.
If you don't have that gift, I urge you to ask Him to come into your life right now, to cleanse you and forgive you, to give you everlasting, never-ending life. That is the greatest thing in all the world, and it can be yours this Easter.
May God richly bless you,
Dr. D. James Kennnedy (and Relo, too)
