It sounds to me as if your are thinking about it to much, just let it go and you will stop dreaming about it, I have had dreams about exs too and I figured out that if i just laugh them off they go away.
now if you had dreamt that he was in danger I would have said to call him asap and make sure everthing was ok.

maybe the first night you dreamt of him you were feeling a little bored and was thinking you needed some excitement in your life, and that is why you dreamt of him. not for the sex or anything like that just thinking of the excitement of the old days.
