Glad to hear you came through OK, Shannon!

Wasn't that an awesome display of the power of nature? At the same time 18 inches of snow came to Denver, we were enduring 60 MPH winds on a bright sunny day, and severe storms reached all the way to Ohio. One storm was at one time affecting the weather over 2/3 of our entire country. It even reached into Canada and was partly responsible for the Royals' unscheduled day off in Toronto yesterday.

Aren't those Bradford pear trees pretty this time of the year? Pretty delicate, too. I have a lovely 20-year-old Bradford pear in my yard. The wind took down a large limb Wednesday evening, leaving an ugly wound in the center of the tree that will surely weaken it to future windstorms. A smaller Bradford pear in my backyard was literally torn up by the roots. My neighbor lost so much of his 15-year old tree that he had to cut it down completely.

But a good thing -- I got to know a neighbor yesterday as we shared this in common and I helped him clean up the mess!

>Hey, everyone! Our buddy, Shannon, was in the path of
>that central MO tornado. I haven't heard from her
>personally since then, but by the IM grapevine I think
>she's o.k. Power is still out for many in that area
>which would explain the lack of communication. Let's
>keep her in our prayers!
