Not much to do with Astra 2D but there was a nice closing statement in the 'Atlantic Feed' column, devoted to the HDTV situation, in the latest 'What Satellite TV':

"Indeed, the BBC - as well as other broadcasting giants - is determined not to miss the HD boat. It doesn't seem to care too much that its own licence fee-payers cannot see the fruits of its labour, but is perfectly happy making series like The Blue Planet in HD-compatible formats. Hazel Wright is the BBC Worldwide executive who looks after HD commissioning, and her advice to UK-based viewers who want to see high-definition TV is to 'write to director-general Greg Dyke'. That seems like good advice."
