I have heard from a local satellite installer who claims to have good contacts in the UK that C4 is planning to move to 2D and Sky is also thinking about it and examing the costs! It was suggested that C5's move to the north was the first easy & cheap step in that direction.

Apparently it's all to do with 'spill' and threats from copyright holders who are concerned at the level of interest in Europe in UK (english) programmes. Its also said that there is lots of capacity on 2D & it's cheaper. The latter reason sounds more likely & would make sense for the TV companies!

If this proves to be so I guess a lot of us will end up with big dishes!
