I believe what will happen is the new card card will initialize in your Grandmothers box. Once initialized it should work in any box, hers, yours or mine for that matter. However, when the subsequent replacement card comes out (i.e. when BSkyB issues a new replacement, say a "P3" card) that card will be tied to your Grandmother's box and will not initialize that card in your box.) The trick is to ensure that your Grandmother's box is subsequently available to you. Alternatively, you could try and initialize this card in your box and thereby, the card will be "tied" to your box for subsequent card updates. However, when the updated cards are issued they will be mailed to the person who originally ordered it, in this case via your Grandmother.

This is why you see notes from people with FTV cards who are having problems with cards they've sourced secondhand and do not know where the original box is that their secondhand card is tied too.

Hope this clarifies !
