The new card will have to be initialized in your digi-box. If it was a replacement FTA card for an old light blue P1 Series Solus card then it will have been initialized automatically without you having to phone in with your details etc. If it was a newly purchased card, not a "replacement", then it will have to be initialized by making a phone call. The difficulty will be in phoning up and getting the initialization done as the operator will need to know Serial Numbers of card, box, may ask for Data Stream, your address etc etc which they'll use to cross check against their records.....

The "replacement" card should automatically initialize in the first box it is placed in. From there on in after it will be "tied" electronically to that particular box. It should work in other boxes as an initialized card, however, when it is eventually next replaced (automatically according to the replacement card system records), it's subsequent replacement will be mailed to the original and "correct" owner. So, if the original owner has already initialized it then it will be "tied" to his box, not yours. It should work if it has already been initialized. The other question I'd have is, if the card has not been initialized yet is it because you have not done this in the UK. It may be that the FTV Initialization signal is on the 2D footprint ? However, I don't think the phone line needs to be connected for initialization of FTV cards.

You might well find that the process of solving this one might be too difficult and put you in an awkward situation, my advice is start again from scratch and ask a neighbour in the UK to apply for one and have the intended receipent digibox co-located in the UK for initialization ... ! Hope this helps.
