I've never heard about the old card being switched back on again and the free2view website makes no mention of this.

My old P1 FTV card died two weeks ago and I ordered a new FTV card from www.free2view.tv It arrived at my UK address two days later and I had it in Austria three days after that. Just plugged it in to the digibox, digibox said "please wait, initialising card" or something like that, and a couple of minutes later all was OK.
