You mean the "Astra 2D reception Worldwide" map? If you look at it carefully, it's a bit ambiguous: should the values point to the borderlines or to the areas between them? I think it can as well be interpreted as 240cm for Rome area! If you look at the map from another UK sat-firm http://www.satcure.co.uk/2d/fprint.htm it suggests 240cm - 300cm. The almost complete lack of positive reports from Rome and beyond makes me a bit pessimistic. Wondering what the local firms tell, they must have experience of at least 180cm dishes.

Even if BBC would encrypt their transmission again they will hardly go back to the old transponders. I think they have made it more than clear that they only broadcast for people in UK and Astra 2D is just fine for that!
