Subject: Never Easy ~ Chapter 2

Chapter 2

''Hey Jason,'' Brent called out as he strolled into the bar a little before nine the next morning.

Jason peaked his head over the bar and waved his hand. ''Over here,'' he answered.

Brent took a seat on a bar stool and waited for Jason to finish whatever he was doing.

''How's it going,'' Jason asked.

''Good,'' Brent answered. ''Pretty good actually,'' he added in with a laugh.

Jason looked up over the bar at Brent and laughed. ''Who is she?''

''Is it that obvious?''

''Yeah man. Don't get all high school on me, okay?''

''No problem. What are you doing?''

''Just fixing a pipe. I'm almost done.''

Brent nodded. ''Hey, can I ask you a question?''

''Sure,'' Jason answered from below the bar.

''How long should I wait before I call her?''

Jason stood up and eyed Brent. ''Damn, you got it bad. She must be some girl.''

''A real heart breaker. Five foot something and she stole my heart. So what do you think?''

''Aww, man, I've never been good with this kind of stuff.''

''You're kidding me? You look like the guy that gives guys like me a hard time with women.''

''Not quite,'' Jason laughed.

''Just in case, I think I'll keep her away from you.''

Jason laughed. ''Don't worry about me. You can bring her to the opening if you like. And about calling her. Wait. Don't want to be too desperate.''

''If I can wait that long.''

''And if she calls you then you know she's as desperate as you,'' Jason joked.

Brent punched Jason in the shoulder playfully. ''Funny,'' he rolled his eyes.

''Enough about women. Let's get started.''

Johnny opened the door and announced Benny. Sonny waved his hand signaling it was okay.

''Hi Mr. Corinthos.''

''Hey Benny. Listen, did you finish the books on the warehouse for the fourth quarter yet? I need those numbers. And I need the equity numbers so I can pay off Jason and as of then our partnership can be over.''

''Mr. Corinthos,'' Benny started and waited for Sonny to turn around.

''What is it, Benny,'' Sonny asked turning around from his seat at his desk as Benny extended his hand and presented Sonny with an envelope.

''I'm announcing my resignation as your account. In the envelope you will find the names of eight excellent accountants who are ready to begin work by the end of tomorrow. They're waiting for a call from you.''

Sonny's eyes widened. ''What the hell are you talking about?''

''A better opportunity has presented itself and I am acting upon it.''

''Who? Where,'' Sonny asked angrily.

''Jason's bar,'' he answered calmly.

Sonny sprang to his feet surprising Benny. ''Like hell you're working for him,'' Sonny seethed angrily.

Not backing down, ''I'll have the fourth quarter books to you by the end of the day. It's been a pleasure working for you sir.'' With that Benny turned around and left.

Sonny slammed his fist into the desk, grabbed a paper weight and flung it across the room. Carly dropped to the ground as the paper weight sailed past where she had just been standing. She slowly stood up and Sonny's obvious anger as he stood in the middle of the room fuming.

''What's wrong,'' she asked carefully.

''Jason Morgan will pay,'' he said to himself. ''He's going to learn you never leave the organization.

Jason snapped his cell phone shut and smiled. Everything was coming together like clockwork. He trunched his way through the snow to his truck which was parked on the other side of the park. He had a meeting with an investor and he left Brent at the bar getting acquainted with the place. Walking seemed like a better idea than driving. Traffic was hell this time of day, especially with the snow. He slowed his pace and scooped up a handful of snow. Shaping it into a snowball he flung it across the way. He watched it hit a tree and laughed. Snowballs amusing, how knew. He grabbed another handful of snow and whipped it has hard as he could in the same general direction. He froze when he watched the snowball hit a person walking around the bend and towards him. ''Damn,'' he muttered to himself. ''Hey I'm sorry,'' he called out and stopped short when the person lift their head. His eyes widened in disbelief. Not more than 15 feet away stood Robin Scorpio, hands on her hips and lips pursed in contempt. Her eyes dark with anger and dismay.
