Subject: Jacob's seizures

Poor Jacob never seems to get a break, he went into Status Epileptus this afternoon. I gave him his Ativan and it did seem to slow it down and then he fell asleep for 3 hrs. but as soon as the Ativan wore off 4 hrs. after the first dose he went right back into it stronger than the first time. This time the Ativan seems to have stopped it as he has not had a seizure for almost an hour. If he would start again I will have to give him the Paraldehyde as I only had enough Ativan for 2 doses. He has also been having trouble sleeping as last week he went 32 hrs. without sleeping and he just went 38 hrs. without sleeping which could be what is triggering the seizures. He is on Chloral-Hydrate to help him sleep but it no longer seems to work for him. We are exhausted as someone has to be up with him in case he needs suctionning. Chris
