I have been reading all the messages and I just thought I would take a few moments to clarify a few things.
We don't work 7 hours right now.. it is only 6 and we would not be in this position at all if it were 7 hours. Many years ago in the old Oxford Board we were paid for 7 when they amalgamated they took one hour away from our day and said we could do this job in 6. We we don't stay strong they may come back and say you know you can do this job in 5 or even less.
I am so sorry you feel that way. Please try to remember why the EA's are out picketing. We want to have more time to spend with your kids. I am an EA. I am a parent of 3 children one of which is special needs. So I feel your pain.
However , the EA's at the picket we are just talking to people ultimately everyone has a choice. All the EA's feel aweful about this situation. Do you think it is easy being out here day after day in the pouring rain? I almost got hit today by a parent driving in. It scared me and I just felt awful.
Please direct your anger towards the board. The people who could end this whole thing once and for all.
Send letters, call, make your voice heard. If this all ends, then your child will be back to school where he belongs with his EA by his side.
