Sophia went to confession before she married CC to confess about carrying Lionel's son. Minx somehow found out about this and bribed the priest to tell her what Sophia said. (This is why Minx decided to switch Sophia's baby, who grew up to be Brick, with the Wallace's baby, who grew up to be Channing Jr.). Years later, Augusta found the priest's info while snooping through Minx's things and wondered what on earth Minx would be doing with a priest. Sensing it had to do with a secret, she met with the priest, who dropped the bombshell that "Channing" had been Lionel's son, not CC's.
